  As a JW were you ever counseled about clothes you wore, or lack thereof ?

  thought this could get interesting discussing experiences.

  i for one was trying to reach out for ministerial servant again in the early 90's , had been one before, and was assigned to carry the microphones one meeting.

  had an elder call me in the back room and say , " brother flipper, i noticed looking down towards your shoes that you are wearing white socks today.

  In Monett, MO we built a new Hall. It was winter: snow, cold. I volunteered to help the folks out of their cars, along the sidewalk, and into the Hall. The sidewalk was not covered. I bought a brand new pair of Carhart insulated coveralls as I was volunteering to stand out in a windswept car port in single digit weather for a half hour.

  The next meeting, I was counsled by the Elders that several were "stumbled" that I was not in a dress coat and slacks.

  I should have just walked out of the Hall, then, and not looked back....

  These people are just insane.....

  I was at work the other day and was trying to think of a "Kingdom Song" to whistle so I could do that when a JW I work with walked through. (Management said I could not talk to him anymore after he stirred a fuss because I mentioned something about the pedaphile mess....)

  Anyhow, I COULD NOT THINK OF A ONE!!

  Now, sitting here ready for bed and I have ten tunes and the words running through my head.

  Gosh, guys....thanks a lot.

  It is true, as someone, here, said once:

  "Bad association spoil useful habits."

  Well, a couple of shots of Jameson over ice and a clove ciggerette would make this a perfect momment, however, I have neither so will just call it a night...

  To All,

  I made that last post to bring the thread forward...sorry for the extra space.

  I wanted to say a few words about Brant.

  We have known each other about thirty five years. Brant is older than me by about eight years or there abouts. Of all the Elders I have known, IMHO (in my hillbilly opinion), Brant had the most "influence" compared to the other Elders around him. To what degree that is objectivly true, today, I do not know, however, that was my at the bottom of the "pissing pyramid" take on the topic.

  Brant and his wife, Karen, and their family are in the group I call "hero." They committed everything, all of it, to the Society. Yet, when the point came that they had to choose between what is Truthful and what was Agree-able, they chose Truth and had the stuffings beat out of them. You gotta admire that kind of a mind and heart set.

  So many of you are of the same cut of cloth. I feel fortunate to be in association with you all....no matter where in this Journey we each are. Be assurred of my fellow feeling and heartfelt empathy.

  In Christ from Monett, MO,

  Greetings!

  I, personally, know Brant Jones....have for some thirty five years or so. The letters exchanged between Brant and the Society are posted on the internet: I am not sure if the letter posted is one of that series, however, I suspect it is. The guy responding is....well...."ate up."

  I have emailed Brant (due to AK Jeff) and I hope this board and Jeff get a letter from Brant: we will see.

  I wish there was a public forum where we could engage folks like the one that put Brant's letter on and commented on it. They are such little scoundrals: all brash and cock-sure. Put them in an open debate and let the facts and objective truths grind them and thier little cult defense to crushed pepper.

  We will see were this goes.

  Been a while since I posted, however, have been keeping track.

  ok first of all i want to apologize for not coming in more often and saying hi, i guess im just lazy.

  richierich did show me that thread from last week with yall asking about me and i intended to post but i completely forgot and other things got in the way but i do want to say thank you for being so kind and caring.

  ok so i had my first elders meeting the other day with the subject at hand as "bad association" seeing that my parents caught me sneaking out to hang with my "worldly" girlfriend and her friends.

  Here is what I just post to Lt. Lore:

  Look at letter from "Lady of Smiles" and see yourself: broken, sad, regretful....tragic situation: do you want this? Submission and reliance on men is the result of this kind of horrific condition. You are taking the steps to avoid this type of slavery...AND you must begin to construct a foundation for the rest of your life that will give substance and success within the Freedom you are entering into.

  Foolish in Freedom is as bad as submitting to bondage.

  One of three things take control of our lives:

  "circumstances"

  other people

  or, we take control.

  "You have the helm...."

  I'm 18 and I want my baptism undone.

  i was recently informed that i have the legal right to have my baptism nullified.

  but apparently there is a time limit on it.

  i have to do this before i turn 19. if i succeed, they will announce at a meeting that i was never a jehovahs witness, and i will not be disfellowshiped or disassociated.. i should also point out that i was baptised at age 9.
